If there was one word you can describe Fame as (aka Small Fry), it’s “versatility”. You will never find Fame confining himself to one style of rap. This creative hip-hop artist explores every aspect of rap from the underground to the mainstream sound. You can catch him rhyming about the most emotional topics or you can experience him as the fun, outgoing college rapper, taking you to the club with some hard-hitting baselines.Fame, born Robert Palermo, attends Rutgers University and is double majoring in Psychology and Labor Studies with a minor in Human Resources. If there were one characteristic you should know about him it would be that he is a very dedicated worker. Ever since he started school as a young boy, school was top priority and he always had to make sure his work was done. Robert was a very good kid growing up, and kept himself out of trouble so that he could accomplish his studies…well for the most part.
The times Robert found himself in difficult situations, school was the last thing on his mind. It was then Robert allowed himself to discover his true talent as a hip-hop artist. Through the moments of turmoil and tragedy, Robert wrote song after song to vent his feelings of frustration and agitation. When he first started writing, Robert could not put his writing utensil down. From then on, he realized that this was a talent he could go far with.
Fame earned his name through a 7th grade project that the teacher had assigned to the students. It was to find the meaning of your name, and write down how you felt about that meaning and if you thought it was accurate to you. Robert found out that his name meant “bright fame”. Robert thought, Fame was what he was going to achieve in the long run, so he held onto that dream since then.
As the years went by, Fame frequently put out music for the people to hear. He was determined to get known, and earn any sort of fan base to come along with him to his journey to success. However, when putting out music, there comes hatred and embarrassment. Of course you’ll have your supporters but then you’ll have the people that’d wish you failed.
Aside from Fame’s peers, his parents were against his rap intentions the most. Being born into a comfortable lifestyle in South Brunswick, NJ with both his parents being quite successful in the corporate world, Fame found himself in a battle between passion and reality. Unfortunately the reality that his parents foresaw was that following your dream as a hip-hop artist made you look juvenile and naïve to the real world. To Fame though, those were just allegations on the verge of being proved wrong. It was not until July 9th 2011 when Fame got very serious with rap. In a matter of two months, Fame put out his first studio quality mixtape entitled “My Resume”, performed at numerous shows, made music videos, created T shirts, and developed this here website with a fantastic team. Along with that he developed his alias Small Fry (Famous, Rich, & Young), an acronym that describes his goals and a word that describes his scrawny body type. Everyone seems to enjoy the new name, and of course they seem to enjoy his new music. Fame’s fan base has skyrocketed and it only continues to grow bigger day by day. What makes him even happier is that his parents have started believing in him more and more as well.
